An international research team has advanced our understanding of the genetic factors contributing to the risk of developing motor neurone disease (MND).
The research, partly supported by the MND Research Institute of Australia (MNDRIA), investigated the NEK1 gene in 610 Chinese people with MND compared to people without MND.

The MND Research Institute of Australia is proud to share its report, $25 Million, 25 Milestones: Changing the future of motor neurone disease. Launched at the 13th MND Australia Research Conference by the Assistant Minister for Health, the Honourable Dr David Gillespie MP, the report details 25 high-impact MNDRIA-funded advancements, which are helping to change the future of MND and bringing hope to people living with MND.

The MND Research Institute of Australia has awarded more than $3.31 million for research to start in 2018. Following review of grant applications by the MNDRIA Research Committee, 28 new research projects will be supported next year.

The Productivity Commission has released its report on National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) costs. MND Australia welcomes the report, which has reflected concerns from organisations across the disability sector. MND Australia made a submission to the Productivity Commission, outlining our concerns about the current NDIS process, and suggestions for improvement, many of which have been noted in the report.
